Play Ball!

What. Just. Happened.

We knew that Thursday was going to be a day for us to remember at Busch Stadium, but it was purely beyond anything we could have imagined!

Fleet Street arrived downtown at 1:30 on Thursday afternoon, and were escorted by our amazing host Melissa, to a room where we could warm up and hang out. “This is the President’s Bunker, that leads right to the dugout. But don’t worry, they won’t be in here today.” Or so we thought….. Before you knew it, both Bill DeWitt III and his father, owner Bill DeWitt II were in the room listening to us with smiles on their faces. Oh yeah, and on our way to that room, we passed the likes of Ray Langford, Mark McGwire, Scott Rolen and more. Talk about speechless!

Once we left The Bunker, we headed to another space for a while before Melissa asked us if we wanted to go down to watch the Hall of Famers come in on the convertibles. I mean, is that even a question that someone says “no” too??? We did, and what an amazing sight it was, seeing the heros that we have watched for decades as Cardinals fans.

Finally, after the players had rode in on F-150s and the Opening Day lineups were announced, we were on. There was about a 2-second delay from when we sang to it coming back to us through the speakers throughout the stadium! But we just held on tight and listened to each other. And in a blink of an eye, we were done!

Words truly cannot describe the gratitude we have for the St. Louis Cardinals for inviting us, and for everyone who has given us a shout out. It’s truly overwhelming, and will surely be a day that none of us will ever forget….

The day through our eyes:

Fleet Street to Sing National Anthem at St. Louis Cardinals Opening Day

On Thursday, April 7th, we’re excited to say that Fleet Street will appear at Busch Stadium to perform the National Anthem before a packed crowd of over 45,000 people for the opening of the 2022 St. Louis Cardinals baseball season.

To say we’re ecstatic is definitely an understatement. It’s a huge honor to be invited by the Cardinals, and we’re excited to be a part of such a momentous day!

The Cardinals will face off against the Pittsburgh Pirates for one of the most historic opening days in franchise history, seeing Adam Wainwright, Yadier Molina and Albert Pujols in the lineup for what is presumed to be the final year of their historic MLB careers.

With Aaron being up in Lincoln, we’re thrilled that our good friend from Spitfire, Chris Pingel, will be joining us for this once in a lifetime opportunity!

Shows are Back, Baby!

On Saturday, April 2nd, we were thrilled to be a part of the Men in Harmony chapter show in McPherson, KS!

While we love competing and everything that comes with it, shows like these are really what we love to do. To be able to travel and bring our music to a new audience is an amazing feeling, and we’re lucky that choruses like these put their trust in us to bring something entertaining to their shows.

McPherson, KS Men in Harmony

It’s been two and a half years since we were able to do this after the pandemic wreaked havoc on vocal groups like ours all across the world. It really is true that you don’t know what you have until it’s taken away from you. So to do it again after so long was a breath of fresh air. We were able to finally start putting some of our new songs in front of a friendly audience, and we’re happy that they got such a warm response!

And of course, we got in a round of golf. Aaron won. Figures…

Back to the Contest Stage

Two years, eight months and fourteen days.

That’s how long it had been since we hit the contest stage in Salt Lake City, UT for the International Quarterfinals. It felt like an eternity, but yet when we hit the stage at the Central States District Spring Convention in Wichita, KS last month, it was just like we never left.

There’s nothing like a barbershop convention. While the contest itself is one of the main components, just being back with our CSD family was worth every minute. Visiting with friends old and new, singing tags into the wee small hours, and cheering on our fellow competitors was just what the doctor ordered to really feel like barbershop is coming back.

When the results came through, it was announced that we’d be heading to our fourth international appearance this summer with our highest score to date with a 81.4%. But perhaps the real excitement came when we realized that we’d be one of SIX quartets that will be representing our district at the International Quartet Contest in Charlotte, NC. While we haven’t done the research yet to confirm, many are saying that this is a CSD record when it comes to qualifiers!

Congratulations to our friends in BoomTown, Harmonium, Union Station, Tapestry and Spitfire! We can’t wait to join you on the big stage this July!
